Mumbai Journalist attacked near home, Press Club calls it ‘dastardly act’

The police journalist was injured when a group of unidentified groups attacked his house on Sunday Sunday afternoon, police said.Herman Gomes, who worked with a private TV channel, returned home on a taxi Saturday night.Deputy Commissioner (Zone-II) Dayaneshwar Chavan said that he had seen four to six people waiting near his house at Gamadevi area when they left the cab at 1.30 am on Sunday morning.The police abused Gomes and then attacked him, police said.The journalist was injured in the attack and Gamadevi police registered a case based on their complaint.He said that the intent behind this attack was still unknown, and the investigation was underway.Journalists’ associations in the city condemned the attack and accused the police of not registering victim complaints immediately.The Mumbai press club called the attack on Gomes “a serious act”.The City Crime Reporter’s Agreement, in a statement, demanded immediate arrest of the attacker.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged the police to take action against the police officers who delayed the registration of FIR in this regard.
