The CBI filed a chargesheet against Roopak Global global owners in the bank fraud case. A case has been lapsed after refunding Rs 3690 crores from seven banks including Bank of Baroda to 456 crores.
The CBI has filed a chargesheet in the Lucknow Special Court seeking three months’ probation. CBI Judge MP Chowdhury ordered a hearing on May 30 in the case. The charge sheet was filed against Vikram Kothari, son of Rootomac Global Pvt Ltd, son of Rahul Kothari, Bank of Baroda AGM SK Upadhyaya, senior bank manager Om Prakash Kapoor and Bank Manager Shashi Biswas.
In February, the investigation team had arrested Vikram Kothari and his son in connection with the case. Vikram Kothari has loaned crores of crores of rupees from Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and Union Bank of India. The Bank of Baroda has approached the CBI with the prosecution of the accused. These banks had announced in February 2017 that Vikram Kothari was a deliberate disruption in the repayment of the loan. Vikram Kothari’s fraud was traced after the fraud by a diamond trader Neerav Modi at the Punjab National Bank’s Mumbai branch.
