14th November marks the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru. We celebrate this day as a Children’s Day. But do you know earlier it was celebrated on November 20? In Independent India, it was not always celebrated on 14th of November. Internationally, there is a tradition of celebrating Children’s Day on November 20. United Nations International Children’s Day was celebrated as a children’s day for a while.

After the demise of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, it was decided with consensus that Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday should be celebrated as Children’s Day. In this way, India got a different children’s day. The International Children’s Day launched by United Nations in 1954 aims to promote the good upbringing of children worldwide.

On November 14th in India, several schools celebrate this day with specially organized functions, fancy dress competition, concerts and fairs.

Today, all kinds of talk, Propaganda and Fake News are spread about Pandit Nehru and his legacy, but Children’s day is one of the most memorable memories associated with everyone’s childhood.
